Mississippi honors Colonel Donnell Berry with memorial highway dedication

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Transportation officially dedicated the Colonel Donnell Berry Memorial Highway on U.S. Highway 49 in Yazoo County, honoring the late law enforcement leader.

Berry served more than 35 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. He was also the chief of the Highway Patrol and assistant commissioner of the department.

Officials said the highway dedication is a tribute to Berry’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to public service. The ceremony was attended by state and local officials, as well as members of the Berry family.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety officials expressed appreciation for Berry’s contributions and legacy, which continue to inspire law enforcement officers across the state. The department invites the public to view and share images of the dedication ceremony.

Berry’s service left a lasting impact on the agency and the citizens of Mississippi, officials said.
