Mississippi wildlife agency hosts successful 2026 fish camp for youth

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) concluded its 2026 BTFH Visitor Education Center (VEC) Fish Camp with positive results. The event focused on teaching campers to bait, cast, and fish for catfish and bream.

Participants also received hands-on lessons in fish identification and hatchery practices. Several earned their National Park Service (NPS) Junior Angler badges, according to MDWFP.

US Army Corps of Engineers rangers provided water safety tips, while the National Park Service and MDWFP Law Enforcement staff emphasized water safety during the camp. The event is held annually, and organizers encouraged interested families to mark their calendars for next year.
