Mississippi Wildlife Department Urges Boaters to Complete Safety Courses During National Safe Boating Week

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is reminding boaters that anyone born after June 30, 1980, must complete a boater education course before operating a motorized vessel on public waters, according to a department news release.

The department offers both in-person and online courses designed to promote boating safety. These courses cover navigation rules, hazard recognition, and other essential skills for boaters.

Participants can complete their boater education by visiting the department’s website at https://www.mdwfp.com/enforcement-education/boater-education, the release said. The department encourages boaters to take advantage of these resources during National Safe Boating Week, which aims to promote safe practices on the water.

Additional boating safety tips will be shared throughout the week, the department added.
