Mississippi wildlife official celebrates 25 years of hunting on same WMA
Caleb Hinton, the Wild Turkey Program Coordinator for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, marked a milestone this year. He harvested his first turkey in 2001 on Leaf River Wildlife Management Area.
Twenty-five years later, Hinton is still hunting on the same ground, highlighting the lasting opportunities provided by Mississippi’s WMAs. His journey from a young hunter to a conservation professional underscores the enduring value of public lands for outdoor recreation.
Hinton’s story illustrates how wildlife management areas serve as a foundation for lifelong outdoor pursuits and careers in conservation, according to the department.
