Mississippi wildlife officials engage with visitors at Mason Creek WMA

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks staff spent last week engaging with a group of children and adults camping at Turkey Fork Reservoir in Mason Creek Wildlife Management Area within De Soto National Forest.

According to MDWFP, staff members discussed wildlife and conservation topics, emphasizing the importance of public lands. The event provided attendees with an up-close look at some of Mississippi’s native species, including an eastern diamondback rattlesnake, cottonmouth, and pygmy rattlesnake.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about the state’s diverse wildlife and the efforts to protect natural habitats, officials said. The event aimed to foster awareness and appreciation for Mississippi’s natural resources.

MDWFP encourages the public to continue exploring and supporting conservation initiatives across the state.
