Northeast Mississippi Community College honors six legendary alumni in Hall of Fame induction
Northeast Mississippi Community College celebrated six individuals Thursday night in a Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The event honored alumni whose careers and community service exemplify the spirit of the college.
Kent Geno, an alumnus and president of Cook Coggin Engineers, was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame. Geno, a former pre-engineering student, has contributed to community development through leadership, scholarships, internships, and campus improvements, according to college officials.
Mario Addison, a former Northeast football player, made history as the first alumnus to compete in the Super Bowl. The NFL pass rusher, who played for 12 seasons, recorded 70 sacks and 313 tackles, college officials said. Addison participated in Super Bowl 50.
Stephanie Breedlove, Northeast’s only slow-pitch softball All-American, tied the program’s batting average record at .487. She earned the Tiger Award and helped lead the team to a division championship, college representatives said.
Rod Coggin, a former football and baseball player and assistant coach, has served Northeast for more than 30 years. He is currently vice president of student services, college officials said. Coggin helped the Tigers reach three consecutive Region 23 Baseball Tournaments.
Krystal Robinson, a standout on the Lady Tigers softball team, overcame adversity to help win the 2007 state championship. She scored 529 points as a freshman and remains among the college’s all-time statistical leaders, officials said.
Qyntel Woods, an All-American basketball player, averaged 32.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. The 2002 NBA Draft pick spent more than 15 years as a professional basketball player, making history as the first Northeast men’s basketball player drafted directly from the college.
Each inductee embodies the determination, excellence and impact that define Northeast Mississippi Community College, officials said. The college congratulated the 2026 Hall of Fame class and reaffirmed its motto: ‘Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.’
