Permits now available for 2026 Velvet Buck Season

Permits for the 2026 Velvet Buck Season are now available for purchase at locations where hunting and fishing licenses are sold, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

The permits cost $10 for residents. Non-residents can have the permit included in their $100 deer permit.

The three-day archery season is limited to private lands, and hunters are only permitted to harvest legal bucks. Participants are required to report any harvest and submit samples for chronic wasting disease testing, officials said.
