Pollinator Week Highlights Importance of Bees and Other Pollinators

It’s Pollinator Week, a time to recognize the vital contributions of bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators to the environment, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

These small creatures play a significant role in helping native grasses, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees reproduce. Their activities support plant diversity, which is essential for a resilient ecosystem, the department said.

A diverse array of plants attracts various animals, creating a balanced and thriving habitat. The department highlighted the importance of pollinators in maintaining healthy natural environments.

Photographer Jacob Brumfield of the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science captured images celebrating pollinators and their role in nature, the department added.
