Jamie Horton, a senior at Baldwyn High School, has been selected for Toyota’s Creating Your Future internship, according to the Baldwyn School District.
Horton was one of eight students chosen from 38 applicants for the program, which aims to develop a skilled workforce in Mississippi. The 15-week internship combines classroom instruction with hands-on manufacturing experience.
The program includes new hire orientation, Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification instructed by Itawamba Community College, and production team member-based learning. It is a paid internship, and Horton will work up to 20 hours per week, officials said.
The initiative is part of Toyota Mississippi’s education-to-work effort to prepare students for careers in manufacturing and industry.
