Corinth’s John Gaines credits Northeast for foundation in medicine pursuit

John Thomas Gaines of Corinth plans to pursue a career in medicine, a goal he credits to his time at Northeast Mississippi Community College. Gaines said he chose Northeast because of its strong academic reputation and success in preparing students for healthcare careers.

Through challenging coursework and mentorship, Gaines built a solid foundation for his future. He highlighted the relationships he formed with instructors like Mr. Miller, Dr. Nock, and Mrs. Morris, as crucial to his success. Gaines said these connections helped him earn a spot in the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program.

Gaines praised the campus community for supporting his growth. “Northeast was more than just a place to take classes; it was a community that believed in me,” he said. “The foundation for my success was built during my time here.”

He offered advice to students aspiring to enter medicine: stay focused, work hard, ask questions, and take advantage of opportunities. “At Northeast, you’re not just starting college — you’re building a future that can take you anywhere,” Gaines said.
