Ex-Teacher Gets 18 Years for Child Exploitation in Mississippi

Wilson Frederick Jones, 31, a former teacher with the Corinth School District, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to six counts of child exploitation in Alcorn County Circuit Court, according to court records.

Judge John R. White sentenced Jones this morning and suspended an additional 102 years. The court ordered the sentence to run concurrently with a previous 60-month federal sentence. Jones is required to serve the full state sentence day for day due to the severity of the offenses.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Clay Cummings on behalf of the state of Mississippi. The prosecution acknowledged the efforts of the Corinth Police Department, including Chief Landon Tucker, Detective Bo Swindle, and Detective Heather Russell. Federal authorities, including the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi, also contributed to the investigation.

Herring emphasized the collaboration between local and federal agencies in bringing the case to justice, according to district officials.
