Visitors enjoying outdoor activities this summer are advised to keep a safe distance from alligators, never feed them, and respect their habitat. These precautions help ensure safety and protect wildlife, officials said.
Fun facts shared by wildlife experts include that the American alligator can grow up to 15 feet long, with its tail accounting for about half of its body length. The reptiles are an iconic species in Mississippi’s ecosystem.
