Mississippi Continues Recovery Efforts Amid Severe Storm Damage
Mississippi officials are continuing to respond to severe storms and major flooding across the state, with damage assessments underway, according to the state’s emergency management agency.
Initial reports indicate that seven homes have been destroyed, nine are considered majorly damaged, and 13 minor. Nearly 50 homes have been affected in total. Among businesses, three face major damage and six are minorly affected.
Farming operations have also been impacted, with one farm reporting major damage. Infrastructure damage includes four destroyed public roads, four with major damage, and 42 minorly affected. Two bridges are listed as major damage, with one minor.
Public buildings have sustained minor damage, with two reported incidents. The Environmental Protection Agency has identified damage in three locations. River levels show two in moderate flood stage and 15 in minor flood stage, with several waterways experiencing flooding.
The National Weather Service warns of continued severe weather and flash flooding today. Residents are advised to stay alert and safe as conditions evolve, officials said.
