Mississippi election deadlines include absentee ballot tracking and Oct. 9 campaign finance reports
According to the Mississippi Secretary of State, the Statewide Election Management System reported 15,170 absentee ballots requested, 14,771 sent and 9,761 received statewide as of Monday, Oct. 5, for the 2026 November General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The office said voters who requested an absentee ballot can track it through the My Election Day portal. A sample ballot is also available on the Secretary of Stateโs website, according to the office.
The Secretary of State said the in-person absentee voting deadline for the Nov. 3 general election is Saturday, Oct. 31. It also said mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 3.
Election officials can begin processing absentee ballots when the polls open at 7 a.m. on Election Day, and county election officials can tabulate ballots when the polls close at 7 p.m., according to the office.
Campaign finance deadline
The same office said periodic campaign finance reports for all nonpartisan judicial candidates and committees are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9. The office said reports may be submitted by email, in person, by mail or by fax.
For mailed reports, the Secretary of State said the reports must actually be received by the deadline; a postmark will not be enough. The office listed its Elections Division, hotline and campaign finance webpage for election and reporting questions.
For readers in Prentiss County, the practical takeaway is the set of statewide deadlines: Oct. 9 for certain campaign finance reports, Oct. 31 for in-person absentee voting, and Nov. 3 for mailed absentee ballots to be postmarked and for Election Day processing and tabulation to begin at the stated times.
