Mississippi man receives life sentence for murder of infant
CORINTH, Miss. — A Sardis man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of his infant daughter.
Gabriel Girner, 24, entered the plea in the Circuit Court of Alcorn County. Circuit Judge Michael P. Mills Jr. accepted the plea and sentenced Girner to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, where he will be ineligible for parole under state law.
The charge stems from an investigation into the June 14, 2023, death of 3-month-old Ivana Rose Girner. The Corinth Police Department led the investigation, with Detective Jerry Rogers serving as the lead investigator.
The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Jason D. Herring and Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Clay Cummings, representing the state of Mississippi.
