ABERDEEN, Miss. — A man convicted of drug offenses in Aberdeen has received an additional 15-year prison sentence, according to court officials.
Jerrod Marquis Lucas pleaded guilty to the sale of cocaine in one case and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in another, court documents show. He is already serving a 20-year sentence on a reduced charge of possession of cocaine.
Judge Kelly Mims sentenced Lucas today to serve the additional 15 years, with the sentence to run after his current term ends. The move is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activity in the area, officials said.
The District Attorney’s Office credited the Aberdeen Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for their work in the case. Assistant District Attorney Nebra Porter prosecuted the cases on behalf of the state.
Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, announced the sentence.
