Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves announced the signing of a Shared Stewardship Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening the state’s forestry industry.
The agreement brings together the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Reeves said the partnership enables state and federal agencies to work more effectively across ownership boundaries to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risks, support private landowners, and bolster Mississippi’s timber economy.
The initiative emphasizes collaboration to protect one of the state’s economic pillars, according to Reeves.
