Mount Olive police seek armed suspect in officer-involved shooting

Mount Olive police said they have cleared 19-year-old Zykerian Quentavius Magee as a suspect in an incident that occurred earlier this week. Magee is no longer considered involved in the case, police said.

However, authorities are still seeking Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, 19, who remains at large. Hobbs is believed to be armed and dangerous and may be in the vicinity of the 200 block of South Bluff Street in Mount Olive, Covington County.

The officer-involved shooting took place around 3:38 p.m. on June 8, police said. Hobbs is described as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie.

Police urged anyone with information on Hobbs’s whereabouts to contact 911 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378. A photograph of Hobbs was provided by authorities.
