Northeast Mississippi Community College launches aerospace manufacturing training program

Northeast Mississippi Community College has opened enrollment for its new Aerospace Fabrication & Assembly (AFAB) Program. The structured training aims to equip students with hands-on skills sought by employers in the aerospace industry.

The program begins with an introductory course in assembly and fabrication, covering print reading, precision measuring, drilling, countersinking, fastening techniques, and aerospace structure assembly. After completing this course, students can progress through additional modules in any order, including quality systems and machining, electrical systems integration, hydraulics and pneumatics, and composites fabrication.

The program is offered at the collegeโ€™s Corinth campus with multiple class times available, including morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, from Monday through Thursday. It is free for participants, making it accessible to a broad range of students.

Developed in partnership with industry, the program prepares students for potential employment with companies such as Northrop Grumman in Iuka, Mississippi, as well as other advanced manufacturing firms. The next introductory classes start July 6, with additional sessions scheduled throughout the year.

Interested individuals can register online or inquire about employment opportunities with Northrop Grumman. For registration, visit Assembly & Fabrication Program Registration. Questions can be directed to GoodSkills@nemcc.edu.
