Tracey Barron, an instructor in the Practical Nursing Program at Northeast Mississippi Community College, has been honored with the Northeast Way Award, college officials announced Thursday. The award recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional service, leadership, and genuine care for others.
According to a former student, Barron’s impact extended beyond classroom instruction. The student described her as “everyone’s favorite teacher,” praising her ability to make lessons engaging and understandable. The student, now a registered nurse teaching nephrology nursing for a global company, credited Barron with teaching not only nursing skills but also how to be a good nurse.
“I absolutely believe that I would not have gotten this far in my career without her wisdom, positive attitude, and support,” the former student said. College officials highlighted Barron’s dedication both inside and outside the classroom, noting her efforts to ensure students understood their tasks and enjoyed clinical experiences.
Her nominator praised her ability to explain complex concepts while making learning enjoyable, adding that she “deserves an award for the work she does and the lives she changes.” Barron’s passion for teaching continues to influence future nurses long after graduation, officials said.
