Emily Pollard wins Northeast Way Award for her community impact

Emily Pollard has been recognized as this month’s Northeast Way Award recipient. The award honors employees who make a meaningful difference through kindness, encouragement, and commitment to the Northeast community.

According to the organization, Pollard’s influence extends beyond a single conversation. One former student recalled a discussion with Pollard that helped boost their confidence. Pollard shared that she believes in her students’ potential and reflected on her grandmother’s advice: “Do not let anyone determine your success or failure; the only one who can do that is you.”

Her work includes involvement with the Tiger Den, community outreach, after-school activities, athletic events, band, cheer, and Black Student Union. She consistently shows up for students and the campus community, offering support that helps students feel valued and capable.

Organizers praised Pollard for her ongoing dedication and for inspiring students to believe in themselves. They encouraged others to nominate colleagues for the award through a provided online form.
