The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department reported three arrests from October checkpoint and traffic-stop enforcement. In each case, investigators said the cases will go to the next Grand Jury.
October 5 safety checkpoint
According to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, deputies conducted a safety checkpoint on October 5, 2026. Deputy Alfredo Navarro arrested Steven Yates, 55, of Booneville, on an active Justice Court warrant and other misdemeanor traffic violations.
The department said deputies found a bulge in Yates’ front pocket that contained a pipe and a clear baggie with a crystal-like substance. Yates was taken to the Prentiss County Jail and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop set bond at $10,000.
October 10 traffic stop
On October 10, 2026, Deputy Ethan Hester conducted a traffic stop on Highway 4 near County Road 8401, the department said. Deputy N’shawn Cameron assisted.
As a result of that stop, Zachery Ruey Smith, 40, of Booneville, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, several misdemeanor traffic violations and a Justice Court warrant. Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set bond at $10,000.
October 20 safety checkpoint
The department also said deputies, along with the Booneville Police Department, conducted a safety checkpoint on October 20, 2026. Deputy Ethan Hester arrested Stacy Ann Marlar, 35, of Corinth, on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine and other misdemeanors.
Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set Marlar’s bond at $5,000. The department said the driver of the vehicle, Tyler Lee Harris, was also taken to the Prentiss County Jail on misdemeanor charges. Deputy N’shawn Cameron and Officer Brandon Wright assisted.
