Tropical Depression Two Strengthens to Tropical Storm Bertha, Threatening Louisiana Coast

Tropical Depression Two has strengthened into Tropical Storm Bertha, according to the National Weather Service. The storm is expected to move westward and potentially make landfall in Louisiana.

Forecasters predict a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mississippi emergency officials are in contact with local agencies as coastal counties begin preparations.

No resource requests have been received, and there are currently no unmet needs, officials said. Authorities advise residents to stay weather-aware and safe as the storm approaches.
