Baldwyn High School junior Gavin Gamble shadowed staff at Challenge Automation in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Tuesday. The company, owned by BHS alumnus Eric Nanney, specializes in custom machinery and automation services.
Challenge Automation offers robotic controls and integration, vision inspection, machining, fabrication, software development, and functional testing. Gamble said the experience provided insight into the automation industry and the company’s operations.
“My job shadowing at Challenge Automation was a really good experience,” Gamble said. “I got to see what it is like to work in the automation business and learn about some of the different machines and projects they work on. I also got to see how a business is run and how much work goes into completing different jobs.”
He added that the experience helped him understand potential career paths. Gamble expressed gratitude to the Challenge Automation team for the opportunity.
