Baldwyn High School Student Shadows in Tupelo NICU for Awareness Month
Baldwyn High School junior Olivia Page spent the day shadowing staff in the neonatal intensive care unit at Tupelo’s Women’s Center. The visit coincided with September being NICU Awareness Month.
Olivia’s nephew was a NICU baby, which motivated her interest in the experience. She described her day as eye-opening, noting that staff do much more than just hold babies.
“They do so much, and I only got to see a fraction of it,” Olivia said. She praised the staff for their welcoming attitude and appreciated Ms. Lydia, who explained her duties throughout the day.
Olivia expressed gratitude for the learning opportunity and said it helped her gain a better understanding of potential career paths in healthcare. She thanked the NICU staff for their support and hospitality.
