Man sentenced to 12 years for fentanyl trafficking in Mississippi

TUPELO, Miss. — Kevin Deshone Dilworth was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to fentanyl trafficking, according to court documents. The sentence was handed down May 7, 2026, by Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims.

Judge Mims originally sentenced Dilworth to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, but 28 years were suspended, leaving a 12-year term to be served. Under Mississippi law, Dilworth is not eligible for parole or early release and must serve the full sentence. After completing his incarceration, he will be under five years of post-release supervision.

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the narcotics offenses. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Megan French on behalf of the state.

Herring emphasized the agencies’ commitment to combating fentanyl distribution and protecting the community from dangerous substances, according to court records.
