Mississippi man sentenced to 12 years for fentanyl trafficking

JACKSON, Miss. — A Mississippi man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to fentanyl trafficking, according to court records.

Jeremy McGee appeared before Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims on August 3, 2026, and admitted to the charge. The judge sentenced him to serve the full 12-year term without the possibility of parole or early release.

Judge Mims suspended an additional 28 years on the case and ordered McGee to complete five years of post-release supervision after his incarceration, the court said. Because of the trafficking conviction, McGee must serve his sentence day-for-day.

The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit. Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, the district attorney’s office said.

Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, commended the narcotics agents for their efforts in removing dangerous drugs from North Mississippi streets, according to the statement.
