Mississippi man sentenced to 15 years for meth trafficking

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — Zane Miller, 32, of Booneville, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, the Prentiss County Circuit Court announced.

Judge John R. White imposed the sentence following Miller’s guilty pleas to charges including trafficking and aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, as well as possession of fentanyl with intent to sell. Miller faced multiple drug charges in Alcorn and Prentiss counties.

Under Mississippi law, individuals convicted of drug trafficking are not eligible for parole or early release. Miller will serve the full 15-year sentence. The judge also sentenced him to an additional 25 years, which was suspended on the condition that he abide by the law after his release.

Upon release, Miller must complete five years of post-release supervision through the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

The charges stemmed from investigations by the Booneville Police Department, Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, as part of the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, and the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant District Attorney Kyle Robbins prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, according to the district attorney’s office.

Jason D. Herring, District Attorney for the First Circuit Court District, was also involved in the case.
