The Mississippi Highway Patrol team achieved notable success at Lawfit 2026, earning several top placements across various categories, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
In strength events, Tommy Stinson finished third in the men’s bench press, while Julian Wells placed fourth and Mike Brown fifth. Christian Coleman placed fourth among women. In running, Chelsey Giles won the 1.5-mile race with a time of 8 minutes, 35 seconds, and Coleman finished fifth with a time of 12 minutes, 10 seconds.
Julian Wells also secured third in sit-ups among males, and Giles finished fifth among females. Coleman took second in pull-ups. In pursuit courses, Julian Wells finished second among males, and Jason Wells was fifth. Giles finished second among women.
The team also earned medals in team events, with Giles and Coleman finishing second in female pairs, and Giles and Brown taking third in mixed pairs. The two-man team of Stinson and Julian Wells finished second, while Brown and Bowie placed third. The four-man team of Stinson, Bowie, Brown, and Julian Wells also finished second.
Overall, Giles and Coleman finished second and fourth respectively in female overall standings, while Julian Wells was fourth and Tommy Stinson fifth among males. The department congratulated the team on their strong performance at the competition.
