Conservation officers from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks participated in the 2026 LawFit competition held July 16-18. The team trained throughout the year in preparation for the event, according to department officials.
The 2026 MDWFP LawFit team included officers Bradley Starling, PJ Marascalco, Austin Tallent, Derrick Scott, Ryne Long, Logan Sarotte, and Karri Fulton. The team secured the title of National LawFit Four-Man Team Champions, with Starling, Marascalco, Scott, and Tallent earning first place.
Marcus Christon, a Hall of Fame inductee, was also recognized during the event. The team achieved top-five finishes in multiple individual and team competitions, demonstrating their strength across various physical and tactical challenges.
In the bench press, Marascalco placed first, lifting 227% of his body weight, while Scott finished second with 223%. Tallent took second in the 1.5-mile run with a time of 7:56, and Sarotte placed fourth among female competitors. Long won first in the sit & reach, and Scott and Marascalco secured top positions in sit-ups. Scott also finished first in pull-ups among males.
Scott, Tallent, Marascalco, Sarotte, and Fulton earned top spots in the obstacle course and pairs competitions. Scott and Marascalco won the male pairs category, while Sarotte and Scott topped the mixed pairs. Fulton and Marascalco finished second in mixed pairs, and Sarotte and Fulton took third in female pairs.
Overall, Scott was named the top male competitor, and Fulton placed third among females. The team’s success highlights their dedication and skill, officials said. MDWFP officials congratulated the entire LawFit team on their outstanding performance.
