The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department has charged registered sex offender Jason Ray Dowse with failure to register as a sex offender, following an investigation earlier this month.
During a routine address check on August 18, investigators found that Dowse was not living at his registered address on County Road 1151 in Rienzi or at a secondary address on County Road 1190. Further interviews revealed that he had been staying at various locations and had spent several weeks at an unregistered residence in Alcorn County.
Dowse, after being advised of his rights, admitted to staying at an unregistered address for longer than the seven-day legal limit for sex offender registration. The investigation led to his formal charge of failure to register, the sheriff’s department said.
Bond was set at $5,000 by Justice Court Judge Ray Hall. The case will be presented to the next Prentiss County grand jury by Investigator Aaron Stolz. Investigators Torie Jumper and Kolby Knight assisted in the case.
