The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of Mark Michael, 52, of Booneville, on charges of grand larceny. The arrest followed a report on July 29, 2026, that a vehicle was stolen from a residence on County Road 1151 and later scrapped at SMC Recycling without the owner’s consent.
Deputy Dennis Peeks documented the initial complaint. Investigator Aaron Stolz and Torie Jumper launched the investigation. A receipt from SMC Recycling, dated July 29, 2026, was retrieved through Leads Online, identifying Michael as the individual who scrapped the vehicle. The vehicle’s VIN matched documentation confirming the owner’s rights.
Photographs taken at SMC showed significant damage caused during the scrapping process. Based on the evidence, Investigator Stolz prepared an affidavit for grand larceny, which was presented to Justice Court Judge Ray Hall. The judge issued a warrant for Michael’s arrest.
Michael was taken into custody on July 30, 2026. His initial bond was set at $1,000 during his court appearance before Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop. Investigators Torie Jumper and Kolby Knight assisted with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury.
