Mississippi marks July 4th as Free Fishing Day
Mississippi residents can fish without a license on July 4, marking the state’s annual Free Fishing Day, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
Unlike in June, permits to fish at state-owned lakes will still be required on July 4. The day provides an opportunity for first-time anglers and experienced fishermen to enjoy the sport without licensing restrictions.
The department encourages residents to explore public fishing lakes across the state. More information and a list of lakes can be found at https://www.mdwfp.com/statelakes.
