Mississippi opens private lands alligator season applications through 2026

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) announced that applications for the state’s private lands alligator season are still being accepted, despite the conclusion of the public water draw period.

Hunters must submit their applications online, as the department has emphasized that in-person or mail-in applications are not available. The application window remains open until July 1, 2026.

The private lands season is scheduled to run from noon on August 28 until 6 a.m. on September 21. Interested hunters can find instructions and apply through the MDWFP website at https://www.mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/wildlife-species-program/alligator-program/private-lands-and-permits.
