Nursing students present scholarly projects
According to Northeast Mississippi Community College, ADN faculty and Delta State University Doctor of Nursing Practice students recently presented scholarly projects at the SPIN Learning Nurse Educator Conference in Destin, Florida. The presentations included work by Lauren Sparks, Michael Barron, Paden Switcher and Hanna Byrd.
The college listed Sparks’ project as Measuring Educational Impact of Human Trafficking Content in a Pre-Licensure Nursing Program. Barron’s project was Implementing an Evidence-Based Fall Prevention Workflow in a Rural Primary Care Setting, while Switcher’s was Impact of a Targeted, Evidence-Based Educational Session on HPV Vaccination Knowledge, Attitudes, and Intentions Among Young Adults.
Byrd’s project was Breaking Barriers: Enhancing Mental Health Literacy and Reducing Stigma: An Evidence-Based Educational Intervention for College Nursing Students. Northeast said all four are set to graduate with Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees in December 2026.
Spring orientation and construction careers
The college also said students starting Northeast in January can attend Fall Orientation on Nov. 18 and should register by Nov. 11. Northeast said spots are limited.
In another campus update, Northeast thanked JESCO for visiting Construction Engineering students and sharing information about careers in the construction industry. The college said the visit connected students with industry professionals and real opportunities.
Northeast’s separate recognition as a 2026 Most Promising Place to Work in Community Colleges was attributed by the college to its faculty and staff.
