Prentiss County constable arrests man on drug charges after trespassing complaint

Prentiss County North Constable Byron Parker arrested James Norman Bennett, 52, of Booneville, on July 31, 2026, after investigating a trespassing and drug activity complaint at Sunflower Housing.

Constable Parker observed several individuals trespassing and loitering in the back parking lot during his patrol. Following his investigation, Bennett was charged with multiple misdemeanors and possession of crack cocaine, according to authorities.

Prentiss County Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop set Bennett’s bond at $5,000. North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith is expected to present the case to the next grand jury, officials said.
