Mississippi man arrested in home repair fraud case
The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jacob Stewart, 32, of Rienzi, Mississippi, in connection with a home repair fraud investigation, officials said.
The case began on April 22, when deputies received a complaint from two individuals who said Stewart accepted $12,300 for repair work at their home but did little work before abandoning the project, according to authorities.
Investigator Aaron Stolz collected financial records, the contract, photographs of the property, and formal statements from the victims. An affidavit was submitted to Justice Court, which issued a warrant for Stewart’s arrest.
Stewart was located and taken into custody on May 13 by investigators Torie Jumper and Aaron Stolz. He was advised of his rights and provided a written statement, officials said.
He appeared before Judge Craig Bishop on May 14 for his initial hearing. His bond was set at $25,000 professional bond, authorities said.
