Mississippi’s Deer Management Assistance Program Pioneered Nationwide
Mississippi’s Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that its Deer Management Assistance Program, or DMAP, was the first of its kind in the country.
Since its inception, DMAP has become one of the most successful efforts in deer management in Mississippi. The program’s success is attributed to its design, which involves sportsmen directly in collecting harvest data and managing the deer herd.
The department encourages the public to learn more about DMAP’s accomplishments and view some of the average gains experienced by participating properties. More information is available on the department’s website.
